Dr Jodie Housman – Clinical Psychologist
Dr Jodie Housman is a Clinical Psychologist who is passionate about psychology and has enjoyed working with individuals and families in a clinical, counselling and forensic capacity since 2000. Jodie received the Dean’s Commendation Award for Outstanding Achievement in her Bachelor of Science (Psychology) and has completed a Doctor of Psychology (Clinical) at the Griffith University. She is registered with the Psychology Board of Australia with Clinical Psychology endorsement, is a full member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and a Fellow of the APS College of Clinical Psychologists (FCCP). At all times, she abides by the APS Ethical Code and Professional Standards. As part of her doctorate dissertation, Jodie designed a NEW brief flexible parenting intervention with the primary aim: to improve parental adjustment, parenting, and co-parenting relations, minimise interparental conflict and child adjustment problems post-separation and divorce. Jodie joined the City Fertility Centre in 2011, worked as the Senior Counsellor at the City Fertility Centre (2011-2020, Brisbane and Sunnybank Centres) and is a National Consultant Counsellor to the City Fertility Centre.
Jodie holds full membership of the Fertility Society of Australia (FSA), the Australian and New Zealand Infertility Counsellors’ Association (ANZICA), the Sexual Health Society of Queensland and the Australian Professional Association for Transgender Health (AusPath). Jodie is registered with Medicare to provide Clinical Psychology services and Non-Directive Pregnancy Support Counselling. Her interests lie in clinical psychological services, relationship counselling, grief, loss, pregnancy and fertility support (donor and general fertility supportive services) and LGBTQIAP+ services.
Jodie is also a Certified Resilience Coach for the Predictive 6 Factor Resilience Scale and Driven Resilience Program (CReC).
Jodie is committed to helping individuals and couples through psychological treatment methods to achieve optimum emotional health. Her preferred treatment modalities are evidence-based Neuropsychotherapeutic, Cognitive, Behavioural, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness and Resilience techniques to enhance and promote emotional well-being and encourage valued living. Clients are provided with psycho-education, active skills training, goal formulation, support and guidance to enhance their competence and confidence in managing everyday situations.
Elise Atkinson – Psychotherapist
Elise is an experienced Counsellor and Psychotherapist whose primary practice focuses on fertility, and relationship/couple therapy. She has over 10 years of experience in the fertility sector, in both private and public health fertility clinic settings and also within her own private practice. Elise has previously practised at the Lister Fertility Clinic in London, the United Kingdom, Homerton University Hospital Foundation Trust in London, United Kingdom, Tavistock Centre for Couple Relationships as a Relationship Counsellor and as a Private Practitioner. Elise joined the Queensland Fertility Group in July 2018 as the Senior Counsellor (2018-2020) and now works as a Consultant Counsellor. In May 2019, Elise joined Housman Psychology. She now works at Housman Psychology as a Psychotherapist and is a National Consultant Counsellor to the City Fertility Centre.
Elise has completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychodynamic Marital and Couple Therapy and Certificate in Psychosexual Therapy from the University of East London, Tavistock Centre for Couple Relationships. Elise has also completed a Bachelor of Nursing at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) (1996) and is a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). At all times, she abides by The Australian Counselling Association Code of Ethics.
Elise holds full membership of the Fertility Society of Australia (FSA) and of the Australian and New Zealand Infertility Counsellors’ Association (ANZICA).
Elise believes passionately in the provision of exceptional care for patients making fertility-related decisions and accessing assisted conception treatment, she believes that getting it right for the patient in terms of support, from the moment they step foot through the door, makes sound business sense.
