Dr Jodie Housman – Clinical Psychologist

Dr Jodie Housman is a Clinical Psychologist who is passionate about psychology and has enjoyed working with individuals and families in a clinical, counselling and forensic capacity since 2000. Jodie received the Dean’s Commendation Award for Outstanding Achievement in her Bachelor of Science (Psychology) and has completed a Doctor of Psychology (Clinical) at the Griffith University. She is registered with the Psychology Board of Australia with Clinical  Psychology endorsement, is a full member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and a Fellow of the APS College of Clinical Psychologists (FCCP). At all times, she abides by the APS Ethical Code and Professional Standards. As part of her doctorate dissertation, Jodie designed a NEW brief flexible parenting intervention with the primary aim: to improve parental adjustment, parenting, and co-parenting relations, minimise interparental conflict and child adjustment problems post-separation and divorce.

Jodie holds full membership with the Fertility Society of Australia and New Zealand (FSANZ), the Australian and New Zealand Infertility Counsellors Association (ANZICA), and the Australian Professional Association for Transgender Health (Auspath). Jodie is registered with Medicare to provide Clinical Psychology services and Non-Directive Pregnancy Support Counselling. Jodie joined the City Fertility Centre in 2011 and worked as the Senior Counsellor at the City Fertility Centre (2011-2020, Brisbane and Sunnybank Centres) and has worked as a Fertility Counsellor for Monash IVF. Jodie now works as a ANZICA counsellor specialising in pregnancy and fertility support counselling to individuals and couples.

Jodie is a committed Clinical Psychologist who enjoys helping individuals and couples in achieving optimum emotional health.

Her preferred treatment modalities are:

  • Evidence-based Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR). Jodie has completed additional training in Structural Dissociation. (https://www.emdr.com.au/)
  • Neuropsychotherapeutic processes and education;
  • Cognitive, Behavioural and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy; and
  • Mindfulness and resilience techniques to enhance and promote emotional well-being and encourage valued living.

Clients are provided with psycho-education, active skills training, goal formulation, support and guidance to enhance their competence and confidence in managing everyday situations.
